US Marines and sailors from the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (26th MEU) have undertaken training in the eastern Mediterranean.

Embarked aboard the amphibious warships of the USS Bataan Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) for a deployment to European and Middle East waters they joined Exercise Odyssey Encore, which was last month (Jan) staged near the Greek coastal city of Volos.
The exercise was a Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF) readiness sustainment workout that ensured the 26th MEU (a Special Operations Capable formation) retains the advanced skills and capabilities necessary to rapidly respond in crises situations.
